I just caught some portions of a movie with Cary Grant, Only Angels Have Wings. In one scene, there was on an office desk what appears to be a Pastushin ashtray model of a DC-3 or even the DC-4E, it was hard to tell since it was in profile.
It was kind of an "I Spy" moment and I started thinking about the possiblity of other desk models used as movie props. Seems I saw a couple used in "The Aviator" a couple years back. During the 30's and 40's, there were a plethora of aviation movies. It seems I recall seeing impressive chrome models is those as well. The Art Deco backdrops to those films virtually insisted on the presence of a shiny airplane desk model.
Is it worth creating a thread to start tracking some of these? I think it would be fun studying a movie just to catch that quick glimpse...
Regards, Tom Sanders
