The date has been set: October 19th, 2013.
Our meeting will be in conjunction with an Airliners Collectibles Show to be held on that day at the 1940 Air Terminal Museum located at Houston's Hobby Airport.
Houston is centrally located, so it's equally easy, or hard, to get to for all! Southwest in the dominant carrier to Hobby Airport (KHOU,HOU) so that's also easy. Most of the other airlines also run some service to Hobby (especially AA and Delta) so check with your carrier to make sure your ticket is to HOU, Hobby Airport. If you fly into the "big" airport, Intercontinental Airport KIAH, IAH, you will need to rent a car to get down to the show.
The show itself will occur on Saturday from 9AM until 3PM. The show vendor - not the Museum - will be selling tables for first come, first served. There is not yet a flyer for the show with details but that will be coming along soon. I am still in the process of doing the due diligence on details - so - more announcements later.
I expect that we will have a group dinner Saturday night after the show.
If you are in the Houston area and would like to open your house to MAC visitors, please contact me. Friday night is an opportunity for something to happen, although I personally will be busy helping to set up for the show.
There will also be a limited display opportunity at the Museum during the show.
Hobby Airport is a very active airport, and the Museum will be running airport tours during the day.
The Vietnam War Flying Museum is right next door and we hope to have tours running to their hangar and some of their planes on our ramp.
Please wait for an official flyer to come from the show vendor for details on the tables as well as the Show Hotel.
So...this is a great opportunity to get together in the center of the US and meet your MAC buddies! If you want to sell, you will have that opportunity. If you want to buy...that'll be there too. If you want to talk or watch airplanes - all that can happen too!
And all of it will be in a vintage Art Deco airline terminal - perhaps the only one in the United States!
Again...set your calendars and start your planning - and wait for details to come out!
www.1940airterminal.org for venue details - but nothing yet on our website about the show!
Remember - you read it here first!
