Helicopter & Space Toy Crossovers

As a collector, I really like "crossover" toys... These items bring enthusiasts of different genres together, sharing information and improving the toy collecting field in general.

So, this post will be dedicated to crossover Helicopter Space Toys.

The main point I've learned about Helicopter Space Toy crossovers is that here are a quite a few of them! I guess it's a testament to just how popular Space Toys are and have been. Arguably, Space Toys are some of the most popular, collectible and valuable toys out there. It makes sense that helicopter toy manufacturers would branch out into that area.

There have been a few Space Helicopter Toys featured on the MAC website already. They include the Yonezawa Sikorsky S-61, the Bandai Space Bus and the Shanghai Toy Company ME 632 Space Helicopter. Also, a member posted a cool link to the Alphadrome robot website that features a few Space Helicopter toys:

I'll try to post some more Space Helicopter Toy examples here, and encourage other members to do the same.

Here is a cool Tomiyama Astro Helicopter:

Highly collectible HK (Hammerer & Kuhlwein) 560-HK Strato Copter:

The hangar on the 560-HK was constant, but the tower came in a girdered version (shown) as well as a clocktower version.

The company also produced an even rarer version called the MZ 560 Strato Copter. Instead of featuring a hangar with tower on top, it had a simpler tinplate clocktower on a small round base, which acted as the pedestal for the rotating helicopter and spacecraft/UFO. The helicopter rotor design is different. And, the box is a lot larger and features some FANTASTIC graphics.

This is one of the battery-operated versions of the Marx NASA Moon Scout helicopter. I know of 3 versions, at least.

This is the medium-sized toy at a bit over 12 inches long.

There is a larger 15 inch version and a smaller 7+ inch version with remote control.

This toy must have had a very limited production. I've only seen one.

It was made in Japan by Shinsei (SKK) and Swallow Toys, and closely resembles a line of toys that Biller produced in Germany in the 1950s.

It's the Atom H-158 Helicopter and includes a really eclectic lithography that features everything from a city skyline to prop-driven planes to jets to trains to boats and even a few American Indian Chiefs surveying a teepee villiage on a Western vista.

The helicopter flies in space high above a rotating earth. Very cool!
