Near Orlando Florida.

1,000s of aircraft toys and models will be available for sale and trade. This is guaranteed.

Free admission.

No ebay fees, no packaging mailing hassles.

Private, only MAC forum members, friends, and family admitted. This is the first show of its kind in over 12 years, since the last Plane News show in New Jersey. Don’t miss it.

Tables for the small sale room are very limited- You must send me an email now, grwebster@aol.com, asap. If you want one. Price may be as low as $10, it depends on the response- cost of room to be split among sellers – but probably not much more.

No need to pay until the show day.

NO EARLY ADMISSION.

There will be a casual lunch and BBQ dinner. This show as were the former Plane News shows is about collecting fellowship. Come and enjoy meeting other collectors.

Pay attention, this is a not-for-profit show being put on by volunteers at cost.

But do you must do your share by letting me know now if you are planning on coming and/or want a table, and want to join us for meals.

I need to know if you are panning on attending to organize.

Please note: many of our 300+ forum members do not have massive collections, but most all of the biggest collectors will be present to help new collectors and others interested in airplane toys and models.

Everyone is welcome.

EMAIL ME NOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.

I will not be sending any more emails to those who do not reply to this one.

I sure hope anyone sitting on the fence can be persuaded to show up. Back in the heyday of TPN/ IMACS these get togethers were a real blast. The first time I attended I had no idea what to expect but sometimes you just do something on a lark. I didn't know any other IMACS members at all. I bought my airline tickets to Newark and booked a room in the hotel where the event was to take place on the evening prior to the show. Can't remember how it happened but I ran into another attendee checking into the hotel and was informed a group would be having dinner in the hotel. Things just took off from there. What a gregarious bunch! I met so many people that evening who I am still in touch with so many years later. I even got to meet "Mr. Big" aka GR Webster. I can remember wives and daughters being there and everyone holding down chairs in the dining room long after dinner was finished. There was trading going on in hotel rooms and out in the parking lot. I was scoring models I never dreamed I would find.

Next day when everyone who wasn't there already showed and began unpacking in our reserved room was unbelievable. It was just members from early until maybe 10:00 and the treasures were being unpacked from boxes with everyone checking out everyone else's "stuff." It was overwhelming. Now I know these days we have ebay and can look at airplane models for hours but I would say the stuff we were trading and selling rarely shows up on ebay. Some of the guys brought rare items "just to display" and many of those ended up being traded or sold to another member who just had to have it. Those were magical days.

If you do come, by all means participate in the BBQ at GR's. Bring pics of your collection whether on an iPad or laptop or old fashioned prints. This is all about model aircraft and you will be among friends who share your particular eccentricity. GR is a great host and a pretty decent guy--I don't usually say nice things about Army helicopter pilots but GR is a man you will be happy to know and make friends with.

Disclaimer: This was an unsolicited plug from a guy who misses the good old days and hopes this is the start of something just as special.

Over and out,

Ladd

Thanks, Ladd, I hope it kicks off a new generation of get-togethers for airplane guys. Eventually doing one up north, on the west coast etc. If this show is well attended and enjoyed there will be others.
I remember meeting you at your first show. Quite impressed, A USAF Lt Col! I also seem to recall that you 'borrowed' my camera and made some unusual photos with it, that I discovered when I developed them a week later.

I do hope many of the the new guys join us. Everyone is welcome. Even if they have only a few airplanes, or perhaps none but are thinking about collecting. COME.

Girl friends kids and friends are welcome, too.

Your idea to bring photos of their collection is excellent- We all loved to look at others collections. iPads are great for this.

But you know if it is just 20 or 30 people, it will still be great.
Many items in my collection and those from many others will be on sale, so if anyone is looking for something, it would be a good time.

ID models, Agency models, metal and plastic toys. Everything and thousands of them will be available.

I have brought in some copies of my Dinky Toys book and they will be on special sale. Even signed by me if anyone wants. What a deal!

Orlando is about a 1:15 drive and Tampa airport is about 1:30 from Frostproof Fl 33843
HOTELS
As far as hotels go here are some nearby my place in Frostproof FL 33843, that I would recommend considering.
Best hotel in area is Hampton Inn, lake wales, 11 miles away
Next best is Holiday Inn Express Lake Wales N-Winter Haven

Lake Wales {closest town - 11 miles away}
- Lake Wales, FL
Hampton Inn & Suites Lake Wales - brand new this year

Sebring {15 miles away}
Quality Inn,
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites
Econo Lodge
La Quinta Inn & Suites Sebring
Residence Inn
.
Cheapest national chain hotels appear to be in Winter Haven, Florida 33880– about 35-40 minutes away
Days Inn (formerly Ramada Inn), Winter Haven, Florida 33880 {$53 a night}
Howard Johnson Inn {$44 a night}

There are many smaller, local, Mom and Pop, cheapo ones around as this is central Florida, but I wouldn’t recommend them.

SHOW LOCATION ON A MAP

Postby grwebster » Mon Dec 05, 2011 4:32 pm

Location of show
Frostproof Women's Club, 333 E. B St. This place looks like a home, just off Lake Reedy's west side, near the town's water treatment center.
