Aluminum Boeing B-18 Bolo Model

Postby alumtube » Thu Jul 21, 2011 1:32 pm

Anyone know anything about this model? Hallow casted aluminum. Definitly machine made. Wingspan is 27" Orig paint. Windows, logos are handpained. Came with plastic disck propellers inserted using a aluminum airplane rivet. Plane was bough just north of Dayton, OH. Was missing right engine cowl/engine. Hand carved one out of aluminum to match, had a couple of metal props that fitted nicely.

Very nice model. Usually the stands can help identify the maker, but I don't recognize that one. Many later Douglas models for travel agency and presentation use were made by Donald Douglas' son's company or so I am told. But I think your model predates this. There was a hollow cast aluminum with open windows, DC-2 made in Chicago about the time the Bolo was being considered, so prehaps this firm (Reisbuger? spelling?) made your model.
I will ask Larry McLaughlin to comment.
