Haji-Yanoman 707 Comparison!

A while ago I posted my Japanese Haji brand DC-8 with the plastic lower parts ... here is an earlier Haji plane with the exact same toy by Yanoman, another Japanese manufacturer ... The Haji has no wing lights while the Yanoman does. Yanoman also issued this plane in at least two other airline colors: Alitalia and Lufthansa.

This is an early 707, note the shape of the nose and the short tail fin.



Yanoman on the left, Haji on the right! Both planes have that ugly tail strut that detracts from their appearance ... also note the candy-cane stripes on the wing trailing edges.

Would you also believe ... The friction drive Momoya "Boeing 720s" shown below have the same stabilizers as the larger Haji/Yanoman planes. Look closely!

Here is a photo, seen on-line, of the box for the remote control version of the Yanoman American Airlines 707. Clipper? That should be a Jet Flagship or Astrojet depending on the year of release. In 1988 in my early collecting years I saw a boxed example at a toy show in a Viscount Hotel near John F Kennedy International Airport. With name and location like that I suppose one could find a nice plane, but I didn't buy it at the time. I got the Haji DC-8 instead.

After several trials using the C batteries, I finally got this Yanoman-American Airlines plane to operate. When I place it on the floor, the toy describes an erratic course because the strut for the rear "jockey wheel" is loose. I suspect the remote-control variants might be better.
