ERTL, Corgi, Lintoy, Bachmann Super Metal Minis, Hong Kong

This is the first of many variants of the P-47 Thunderbolt made by Lintoy . These early ones were made in Hong Kong. Later variants eliminated the moving control surfaces.
Note the early boxes, some just had Lintoy, later ones Corgi Lintoy, and finaly Bachamnn.



The Me 410 also came in a few different variants, here are 2.

Here is a scan from the back of a Lintoy "Die Cast Tool Set" #4506. It shows a cross section of the airplanes from Lintoy, and only a few show moving parts. It's nice to see what the factory promo paint schemes look like. It's a real tease.
Nice little tool set, but the pliers are broken. Anyone have an extra one? I guess I need to find a miniaturetoolcollectors site...

I was excited to see the scan MichaelB posted from his Lintoy "Die Cast Tool Set" #4506 showing a cross section of the airplanes from Lintoy. My brother just returned a Hong Kong manufactured Lintoy F-4E Phantom that I had as a boy back in '73 or '74. It is in very rough shape, with a lot of paint loss, missing both of its wing tanks, one of its engine intakes, and the canopy. I'd like to try to restore it and was wondering if MichaelB could rescan and send me the digits of the image he previously posted, focusing on the Phantom that is cut off at the bottom of the page (it matches the decals and paint scheme of my plane precisely).

I'd also like to hear from other members on their thoughts regarding me acquiring a BACHMANN MINI PLANES F-4K BLUE ANGEL PHANTOM 91# for the purpose of cannibalizing the canopy, intake, and wing tanks -- I assume that both models used identical tooling to generate these components, so hopefully they are inter-changeable. I know that I'd have to paint the intake and tanks black due to the Blue Angel's version being injection moulded from blue plastic.

I have a number of Lintoy F4 reissues that I can let you have for a paltry sum. These are the later Flyer issues, so I'm not sure if the details are the same; I will study on it.
On the Miniplane F4K...interchangeable with what? Certainly you don't mean the Lintoy F4? My notes show that the MP #24 is in BA colors, as well as the later #91. Just to muddle things up, the Lintoy Blue Angels plane is an F11F Tiger.

I think that Ian is mixing up two different models. The one on the ebay auction is a Bachmann Miniplane that is all plastic. The Lintoy one is about twice the size and only the intakes and a few small parts are plastic. The rest is metal.

Concur. These are two different models, of very different construction, parts and very different sizes.
The Bachmann METAL Miniplane would be the Lintoy F-4 repackaged.

Hmmm...need to check the differences in the issues. Here's the Lintoy Super Metal Planes issue, which shows a two color camo - dark drab and light olive. I think the last issues (from Flyers) is more of a green and gray camo. IIRC, the intakes are poor plastic casts and an odd color.
BTW, it's Bachmann/Lintoy Super Metal MiniPlanes. It would also have been issued as an ERTL Planes of The World - probably in the same Lintoy colors.
Ian, does your plane have Lintoy cast in underneath?

It has "Lintoy," "F-4E Phantom," and "Made in Hong Kong" in raised text on the underside.

It is identical to the F-4FK that you show on your last post... same camo, same decals (really stickers).

Note that I got this plane in Europe, either from the PX or "on the Economy" (i.e., host nation store).
