Was Hubley going to make a metal Grumman Goose?

Postby grwebster » Mon Mar 08, 2010 2:24 pm

Recently on eBay there was a sale for metal parts for a Hubley Grumman Goose. I bid very low as seaplanes are a primary collection focus for me and I have a good collection of Hubley items. As there was no other interest, I won the auction.
Hubley never issued a metal variant but perhaps studied it in their shop.
The items came from a seller who bought several Hubley items from a former worker in the Hubley factory.
Here is the original Hubley Goose in plastic.

It would have made a nice toy/model. Note: there no under wing markings.

Hubley eventually sold the molds to Scale Models in Dyersville {home of ERTL} which reissued it with modified under wing markings.

GR, You surely have won a very special prize there. I must have missed that one. It must be one of a kind. If I had seen it I would have bidd too. It looks like an unfinished gem. Congradulations!
