American Airlines DC-6

Looks like a professional made model from the time, but it is not metal or resin. It is made from a black very thick plastic, like Topping models, it is not solid like curvers. The windows and doors are stamped and the whole plane is made out of two pieces. Came from a flight attandent that was flying in the 60s. They told me she got it as a present during her career.
I made some new spinners and plasic discs for the prop that replaced the wooden pieces that are shown on this picture. Did anyone see this kind before? What type of props it had originaly?

What you have is an ID model that was refinished for American Airlines. I had 2 of these and both were in AA livery.I have also seen the in other collections. They did not have props and were not on a stand.There were period models and not done by a hobbyist etc. It is a good collectable piece.AA must have had thes done as a promo item after the war.

I have the same model, seems to be a Cruver, but has no trademark, date or model designation. Also lacks 'hanging hole'.
There is no sign of any other finish than the molded black plastic. Perhaps it was pulled before being finished as a travel agency model?

This model of the DC-6B/C-118A was made by Cruver. It's a stretched version of their C-54. It didn't have props originally. -- Bryan
