Hubley Piper Cub

I really like this die cast metal Hubley Piper Cub from the 60s. The windows are open and it has a clear plastic sticker with the registration number. However, the shape and the casting itself are really quite nice. It also came in green.

I also have 3 of these. 2 in red and 1 in the OD green, but I need props for two of them. I have looked a long time for replacement props, but no one I find has the correct prop. Any idea where to get these?

Those Piper cubs are very nice models and surprisingly not offered often for sale. The real aircraft, a Piper J-3 Cub was sold in Piper yellow so one would think that a version in yellow would have been more appropriate. When on ebay they sell, in excellent condition- complete with 90% paint, rubber tires and prop- for $75-80, this for the more common red version. The one in Army OD {Olive drab} appears to be even scarcer! I haven't seen one offered for sale in years. My example in OD came from a old, fogged up blister pack that also contained plastic items like a jeep etc... No one saw the plane, I guess, and the plastic toys were of little no interest so I was the only bidder and got the set for under $7.00!

I have been looking on eBay for the OD one for a couple of years. I have occasionally seen them sell on eBay but all too often they are missing the decals, props, or prop stud, or part of the Landing gear. Usually heavy wear and even in this state they go for $25 plus. They must have been a popular toy that was played with. Don't think I have seen a truly MIB. GR, lucky to find it, especially at that price.

that same seller has an Erie B-17 in an at-first-glance wonderful condition but.... a closer look reveals that there is some repainting of the props and pins, the stars and I think also US Army which then leads me to believe the whole thing has been repainted.
The OD Piper looks to be totally original. Nice one.
