Rico DH.88 Wings

Postby Tone » Thu May 26, 2011 7:53 pm

Do I see two different types of wings on the Rico DH.88?

When I first got the Ron Smith book, I compared his photo with the plane I have. The one I have has the pointy, tapered wings of the real thing. The color photo of the plane in Smith's book has more rounded wings. I can see both wing types in the planes posted here. Am I just seeing things or am I correct?

Engine nacelles are clearly different! They are smaller and more cylindrical on the planes that appear to have "rounded" wing tips.

The box that Marchand shows in his book 1945-1970 has the title Avion Lanzado.

Pointy wings, like those of the real plane.

Certainly there are two diferents tip planes in the DH-88 model.
in the friction version, the tip plane are more rounded as you can see.

About the Autogiro c-30 of RICO, any catalogue previous to the 1955, is not known, although they possibly exist. In Spain he was very current to add new toys to existing catalogues, and so the autogyro is perfectly dataable in the 1930 decade although it would be continued making many years later.

The other model of autogyro, I agree in which a small rotor was added to an existing airplane and Autogyro RSA 33 was denominated to him

Tone, I well remember this toy from the early MAQ/Plane News days. Rocky Tateiwa showed one and claimed it was a very rare prewar Japanese B-17. But someone else was certain it was from Spain.
BTW has anyone heard from him in the past 15 years?

Spanish Aircraft Toys, Tin and Plastic

Postby Tone » Sat May 28, 2011 12:52 am

Nice and shiny :)

EC-AIN was the real registration of a real Constellation plane ... unlike SK-SAS, OO-SAB, PH-KLM and G-BOAC ! ! !

I will put a new thread about the "Denia" plane in the Tin Planes section so we can better reserve this forum for the plastic toy models.

Thanks for introducing me to "Todocolección," a new information source for me.
