Wiking Group

Postby soslipstream » Thu Jan 06, 2011 9:29 pm

Here is a group that I just picked-up. I plan to sell these individually in the near future. A couple of questions since I do not collect Wikings- What are these worth as a individually, or as a group?

The B-17C has a chipped cowling and missing prop disk.

The Horsa Glider lost its landing gear

Otherwise, they seem in nice shape.

Thanks, Tom Sanders

GR,

The C-47 has the logo WW and R7
On further inspection, I found the JU90 has on rudder broken off as well

Thanks, Tom

Did Wiking ever produce a metal stand for the WWII 1/200 scale models? I would like to see how one looked.
Thanks, Tom

I have wondered the same thing. I don't know of any but when I bought some from a Paris auction a while ago in the lots were several metal stands with the right diameter. They looked like this

At the huge Wiking auction in Germany last fall where possibly every Wiking ever made was sold, there were no stands shown.
The Wikings were issued in boxed sets and held by wire clips. These did not use the hole that is in every original Wiking so what was the hole for? I'll ask Ron crawford to set in on this.

I have plastic Wiking stands in 2-3 diameters similar to the one shown by GR with a Ju 90. They are the wartime Grünling color. I have examples of the same stands in metal and in a tan urethane comparable to Castmaster. However, those are documented copies. The mounting holes in the underside of Wiking aircraft are for exactly that purpose. The aircraft were sometimes displayed on stands. They could also be mounted on a longer stick (picture a dowel or paint brush handle with a needle in one end). That would allow instructors to demonstrate the shape of the aircraft or a maneuver without much of the model being obscured by the instructor's hand.

Return to 1:200 scale aircraft. Both Military IDs and past or current makes.
