GALOOB Micro Machines - Lockheed Props

Postby Tone » Sun Nov 01, 2009 11:00 pm

LIttle P-3 Orion and C-130 Hercules with sinister-looking markings on the P3's wing. The Hercules appears to have the Chinese People's Liberation Air Force insignia on the wing.

Here is a large-scale 1995 Hercules with several opening compartments and ramps. I also have it in white, boxed.

Another Galoob/MM C-130 is the short lived Battle Squad C-130 from 1999. Nice release - nice set of planes too!
No picture of mine...will pick one not mine...

I never saw the Hercules but I do have the P-51, FW-190 and MiG-19 from that series. How many times do ya see a toy MiG-19?

Like never! And it's a good one too! Even fires missiles! This line came out during Christmas 1998 and were gone by summer. I may have an extra C130 around here - just where, I don't know!
(just got in a whole load of MPC planes - another time)

Yeah...checked my notes...Battle Squads came out just before Christmas 1998 and Galoob folded in 1999...so that was the end of that. The C-130 was $25 ea, and featured the common truncation of wing span. The BS (no pun intended) planes also included some soldiers and a military vehicle in each box. Quite a package, but too little too late for Galoob. And yes, I do have at least a couple C-130s by my notes.
That's another "classic" airframe that saw a lot of "toy" action: the C-130. I have them from the tiny MM to the giant Processed Plastic version! Almost got that one to fly in a stiff wind! Are they off the market now? I'm afraid I don't see things like that in the stores these days...for all sorts of packaging and handling reasons I'm sure!
Crossing topics here...since I had posted to Promotional Plastic Planes...the entire line of MM planes is a fascinating set of miniatures. Ranging from WWI to Gliders to even the Aurora Mothership! Many aren't bad little models either, and a number came in intriguing and attractive sets.
Sorry to see them go...now more than ten years later...hard to believe.

Here's a card back for the Battle Squad series. I do have an extra C-130 in the stash, if anyone is interested contact me directly. All plastic...

I have a Micro Machine Super Connie but it is in a boxed set so the photo does not reveal details as vividly as before.

I think it reveals WAY too much detail!
(I do love these little planes, but sometimes...)
