I could not wait to dig this one out to show it to all of you. I just do not see toys of any kind made in Brazil and this one is especially pretty. I could not believe it existed.

The time era looks like 1980 but there is no date on the plane or box, but that is nothing unusual at all. The plane does not break in two pieces like the Toys Nomura tin and plastic battery-operated jet planes. The fuselage and wings are one piece.

Unfortunately the stickers on the tail are worn, and the wing engines look as though they are missing the turbine blades, though I cannot be certain having never seen another of these.

I love the lithographed VARIG livery ! :)

The box does contain the following information:

Manufacturer is Brinquedos Rei (means simply, king toy) and the reference number is G-8. "Produzido na zona franca de Manaus por Alfema norte S/A industria e comercio, CGC 04.221.255/0001-39. INSC 04.1503970 Industria Brasileira."

To me, this looks like a phone number rather than an actual address in Manaus.

Tone, fantastic find.
Your toy was made in an unusual place, the city of Manaus which is where the Amazon river starts, formed by two rivers that join there. It is an open town, a free port where things like raw materials for factories may be imported with out paying duty, manufactured and exported, which was the case of your toy.
I lived in Brazil {US Govt} for a few years, 1970-72, but that was before I started collecting toys, I have been back a few times before I retired but never had the time to look for any toys.
