More "Unusual Subjects" : A PZL-37 "Los" Bomber

It sees as if the spate of publisher funded thematic diecast lines, invariably in a variety of small scales ( 1:87th-1:200th ), is going to bring us virtually every plane ever flown in diecast form. Unlike Corgi, Hobby Master and other conventional diecast makers who try to make a profit on each 1:72nd or 1:48th scale tooling by pumping out a succession of liveries plus limited editions aimed at certain countries, the publisher commits for 30-60 planes at a clip but, as a rule, only one scheme per warbird, and these are cranked out in fairly large numbers, though with compromises---like no pilot figures, the wheels-up or down modes, but not both, etc.----to hold costs in check. The business model is based on the viability of the entire package, not the appeal or sales potential of each component. If enough people---usually not serious collectors---subscribe to the multiple plane plus booklets about each plane "deal" then the venture is profitable, even if most of the aircraft included would never be considered as worth the risk on their own. As a result, lines like Altaya ( France/Spain), Atlas ( UK ), DeAgostini ( Russia ) GE Fabbri ( Italy ) and Hachette ( Japan ) have been scraping the bottoms of their respective barrels to come up with enough planes to replicate. A Polish outfit, Amercom, has also been playing this game and has just launched a new 1:144th scale bomber line which it kicked off, fittingly, with a Polish PZL-37 "Los" ( Elk ) bomber. Now that's one I never thought I'd see in diecast form, yet here it is, just arrived from eBay. I've made a few minor improvements, but otherwise this is a very nice little replica with a decent paint job, OK markings and quite a bit of detail built into the molds that were utilized to create it.
