I wish to restore some of my Dinky aircraft collection.

For authenticity I want to paint the registration letters on the wings, and as far as I can work out the paint has been applied using a block or stamp.

Can anyone advise if my assumption is correct, and if so, what would be the correct medium to use i.e. rubber/wooden/metal stamp, and what font was used.

I'd like to add my voice to your request. I also have a number of early Dinky aircraft that I would like to restore.
Hopefully someone will be able to offer advice.

There are more methodes Meccano fixed the registrations on dinky airplanes.
The pre war models first had hand painted roundels and very rarely registrations. Very short after this stamped roundels and registrations were made on models.
From original drawings I know that this was done by rubber stamps. You can let these make at special shops but you need the right dimensions and type. This is not easy and I never did this. As type for letters Meccano used several fonts such as Akzident and Akzident Grotesk. Also mask sprayed registrations were made on models.
At last transfers were used and for many planes you can buy replica.
Post war models some were mask sprayed and most had transfers.
The best way is to find transfers for your models. But be carefull as many planes I have seen with wrong type or shape look absolute ugly.
