Bell 47 "HT.61" made in India, with weird rotor that looks replaced and incorrect:

Yonezawa Westland Widgeon box only:

I have never seen these before! I will admit the HT.61 looks similar to Japanese toys, though.

There are quite a few "Made in India" helicopter toy variants out there.

Invariably, the workmanship is rough, just like the toy in the link.

The rotors tend to be made of cheaper plastic materials like this one as well.

I have only purchased a handful of these toys because the poor quality is hard to overlook. Still, it's intriguing to know that toys of Japanese manufacture were being copied a great deal in India.

Here's a windup toy styled after the Bell 47:

Here's that Yonezawa Westland Widgeon:

Note the "West Rand" misspelling in the litho.

A later version correcting the error was released.

I was so much looking for how the Westland Widgeon toy would look like.

But THAT is an Sikorsky S-55 in the box....

Might be original, but is disappointing... :?

Chers!

I understand your disappointment...

I don't believe I have ever seen a toy that accurately portrays the Westland Widgeon.

I think most toys that come close are based on the Sikorsky S-51, which saw much greater production.
