not a lot out there about 'Red-E Ruth', or Lt Leon Cox. When the 318th moved to Le Shima, they carried out ground attack missions on targets in mainland Japan. the round trip could take up to 8 hours. coming down at any point during the mission over Japan or the Pacific would likely have meant certain death.
