a complicated casting of the Singapore Flying Boat used by the RAF.

The first examples did not have a roller hidden in the fuselage like most all of the subsequent Singapores and all the other Dinky flying boats {the Empires, Atlantics, 4 Engined Flying Boat {a fictitious civilian Singapore}, the Mayo Composite' Maia {an Empire casting modified with a steel support to carry the Mercury}, and the Clipper III (an S-42)} Only the Mercury float plane {later renamed Seaplane after the War} and the elusive Shetland were never given rollers.
Some of these early versions were issued with lead hulls.
Also this version has the full nose hull casting - later ones, along with all the sea planes, were modified around 1938 eliminating much of the metal in the nose to save costs and address shortages.

As was the custom established my Mecanno, boxed sets were issued from the very first launch in 1934 of the Dinky Toy Line.
The Singapore featured in this one.
