I bought this mold for an army airplane model on Ebay which looks quite old-i wonder if anyone can tell me anything about it? Any suggestions what I could use to mold a sample model from it?

Fascinating...looks like a Beaufighter, a little, but also looks like a generic "airplane".
I'd put some Silly Putty in it and see what comes out. If it is a vintage piece, hot injected plastic or metal would be the only option.

Are there words on the wings?

Me thinks- lead pour molds, no injection needed. There was a guy back about 20 years ago who cast these planes and painted them up. I think I have a set somewhere.

GR, Were you thinking of Eccles. They were cast iron and not full bodied on the bottoms. At least all the ones I have are.

It says "ARMY" on one wing and some numbers I can't quite make out on the other. Serial number 52 Z1 and 53 Z1 on the backs of each. There is what appears to be a mounting screw cast into the back of each which suggests to me that these would have been used in some sort of plastic molding machine and made in quite large numbers. I remember as a kid buying something not unsimilar that included a fleet of wafer thin naval ships, soldiers and airplanes molded from some sort of hard plastic and sold from the back pages of my favourite comic books.

...one of those "Foot lockers" of Army figures and equipment? Could be...
