Wow! What great sets, GR! Lovely stuff!
I, and many of us, may be more familiar with the Cruver pieces as part of a Kix Cereal promotion from 1948. Twenty of the US planes came as premiums.
Let's see if I can insert a picture here...nope...gotta go do more studying...

I have some loose Russian and Italian ones from the same series so now I wonder- was there a Russian and an Italian set too?

Hi GR -
I've never seen or heard of boxed sets of plastic Italian or Russian 1/432nds. I've seen two Russian planes - the PE-2 and SB-3. Have never seen Italian ones. What do you have? As with the Bronzart models, maybe they were produced to showcase the manufacturer's capability, yet never led to orders for boxed sets.
There are boxes for Italian and Russian 1/432nds made in metal by Comet. They aren't anything special, just heavy cardboard containers with Federal Stock No.'s on them.
Regards -- Bryan

A few years ago I visited the RAF museum store at RAF Cardington on a private visit (now mostly transferred to RAF Stafford ) they had loose examples of these models in wooden drawers but nothing like the superb examples you have there GR ! like most museums they hold more in store than they have on display which is such a pity as these models have probably never seen the light of day.
