Constructors sets in the Lindbergh era

Lindbergh really set the aviation minds of the nation into motion,there were many toys produced to promote and cash in on his epic Atlantic flight,here is a constructional set made from steel,copper,wood,castings,these two models were made from a large tray of items purchased five years ago,I have the instruction sheet.

I have the same toy, I believe. It was made by the American firm, Metalcraft, in the 1930. The constructor set came in a large box and one could make the Spirit of St Louis and others like this trimotor, a seaplane etc... I could find pic of the box but here is the assembled plane

What I really like about these sets are the mix of materials,wooden wheels,copper spinners etc and the base metal is tough and restores up easily,my big box of bits came looking as if they had been stored in a coal mine,a good soak for a week in a bucket and hose off outside did the trick,then I built up the representative models as shown.

It's very impressive, maybe I should try to search through my lobby. My grantpa has a very similar model but I don't know what he did with it, maybe he still have such a tresure at his home.. Envy you!
