My Spanish Civil War Collection

I like to organize my collecting, building and repainting on a thematic basis and one of the most interesting of these is the Spanish Civil War. Surprisingly, a few of the participating warbirds have actually been replicated in diecast form and some others are repaints of diecast planes like the BF-109, which were also involved. Otherwise, I've had to be content with plastic kit-makes and a number of my own custom-made solid resin castings. In any event, I thought I'd share pictures of most of my Spanish Civil War collection. Let's start with five 1:48th scale fighters. The green BF-109E is a redo of a diecast Carousel 1 BOB BF-109E-4, with a new canopy to convert it to an earlier mark.

Finally, a motley crew of Republican birds on their way to attack Nationalist positions during the former's final offensive on the river Ebro front.

Obviously, I've got a way to go before I complete this collection---a HE-111 "Pedro" would be a nice addition as well as a Stuka, Storch, SM-81, Fiat BR 20, etc.---but, at least, I'm making some progress.

Thought I'd add a picture of my latest Spanish Civil War bird, a repaint of a 1:72nd scale Amercom ( Polish ) Bristol Bulldog which needed major surgery, including a "tail job" to add a missing forward section to its vertical stabilizer.
