Just acquired a vintage aluminum cast P-47C Thunderbolt from here in Indiana on the eastern side. I suspect it migrated from Wright-Patterson after WW2. It is a 1/72 scale sand casting but not using a Cruver as a master. It came with obtuse looking rusted steel rods as gun barrels so got a gun-ectomy. I decided to not have it displayed with its rough appearance. It took all day Sunday between dry and wet sanding to get the lizard like texture down to something more palatable.
