here is a Wiking 1:200 scale model labeled USA 7. Were all Wikings originally issued with transfer/decals? Seems like most of them I find do not have any.

I asked this question in conversation with Mr. Peltzer many years ago. The ID models were issued to units both with and without national insignia decals. Thinking about the issue, putting insignia on ID models would seem to defeat the purpose. The chap calculating how much to lead your aircraft before pulling the trigger should be IDing Friend versus Foe without having to see a roundel. My read on the subject is that Wikings ended up more frequently as displays than as training tools. The eternal truth, I believe referred to as the Thompson Principle (after the way in which coveted Thompson submachine guns were distributed) is that rank really does have its privileges. On a CO's wall Wikings would look nicer with spiffy national insignia.

here is an original Wiking boxed set. Someone removed the pins holding the models {Why? VSP I guess. Very Stupid Person}, but the box, its glass lid and key are present and I have found all the original models that go with it. I think there were 4 sets.

The Wiking expert, Ron Crawford, has a complete framed set of all the Wikings that I am sure he will sell if anyone wants them.
Lacking his photos here are mine. He and his wife, Louise, helped me catalog them during his last visit.

This is not the complete series, I do not know which ones are missing, but it is fairly complete.

Hello,

I have a few Wiking 1/200 models (like the I 4 and the E 1) and I was wondering if there's a list of all these different models with the name of the real aircraft's name.

Thank you in advance!

You should contact Ron Crawford - elsewhere on this list - and ask him. You can send a PM (personal message) through MAC.
Good luck, and if that doesn't work come back for more information!
Michael

Please send me you email address. I tried to attach my list of Wikings produced to a private email and the .xlsx extension was not allowed.
Thanks, Dennis Ramsey (ramseydc@earthlink.net)
