Reviving Trash...

I've started collecting plastic airliner kits in 1997... I was young then. When I went to college, most of my planes (considered just "toys" by people at home) kept them with total disregard of their value. The result: trash planes.













Last month, I found these old planes and felt the urge to revive them somehow... but definitely it wont be easy bringing them back to how they were before. So, I decided on a quick-fix, armed with super glue, sand paper and GOLD spray paint!

Here's what happened to those pictured above:


A320 + Condiment stand

3 TRI-JETS + Gold Paint + A sheet of plywood




Hahaha! I think they look better than when I found them. And guests at home actually liked them! I hope you guys do too.

Well, that's true... they were kept, but not cared for. At least this time, they got their dignity back... in gold! hahaha

They do look most attractive Pendulum,I never like to pass any sorry looking airplane by,I have handled models chewed by animals,some Dinky's that were buried in the ground and lots of trodden on specimens as well,the most incredible find was when I went to find some Airspeed Horsa glider fuselages that had been used on a farm as chicken runs,inside one were some old tin toys amongst some junk ! you just never know your luck ?

I've had my share of "unreviveable" models. heartbreaking.

I know how it feels when your models are not treated as they should. I once had a big, sturdy board on which I painted my first ever multiple runway airport for 1:600.

After some months away from home, I came back to find the board being part of the wall of a makeshift backyard shed.

Good example of what can be done to save old models. And if the results rotate your prop, so much the better. Just keep an eye on the clock when working with the cyanoacrylic or super glues. Do all the sanding and cleanup within 10-15 minutes after you glue pieces together. The glue continues to harden after it feels like it has set. Your best guide is to do any sanding or cutting before the glue is harder than the rest of the model.
