Star and Bar Decal Upside Down on Manufacturer Models?

I was wondering if anyone on the forum had information on this phenomena? A couple of factory models I have, as well as several I have seen at the Glen L Martin museum have there "star and bar" decal on upside down. The point of the star faces down instead of up. Was this done for a reason, or was it just a mistake by the model maker? Also, some of the models will need to be repainted and new decals put on. Should I replace the "star and bar" right side up or leave it as originally done?

Thanks
David

They were always applied on the actual aircraft with the point up or on the wing point forward.
The hourly wage earners on the production lines of toy and model companies often made the error of putting them on upside down in my experience.
I do not redo toys or models but if I did I would put them on correctly.
