That is one superb model! Verkuyl was able to capture the subtle shapes almost perfectly. Look at the nose section--nearly perfect. The engines are in proper scale to the rest of the airplane. That is something often missed by modelmakers and it drives this Boeing driver nuts. When you compare Verkuyl to Raiseup there is a quantum leap in accuracy. Not that I would ever give up my Raiseups!
Compare the Verkuyl to this 1/50th Raiseup casting.

You can see the fuselage is a bit chunky and the engines are a little too small. Also notice where the wings butt up to the center section. You can also see a seam where the upper part of the horizontal tail joins the lower. 727pilot's Verkuyl simply rules!
Now for those who really pay attention. My EAL 1/50th 727 is a copy made by Gary Field. It is cast in aluminum. In any case I have never been able to acquire a real Raiseup 727 in 1/50 scale so Gary's creation makes me very happy and will never appear on ebay even if I find an original EAL 727.

I just previewed that pic and didn't realize what was in it. In the black container is a .45 ACP bullet for size comparison. In Kentucky we have this bad habit of leaving guns and ammo laying about. I'll be more careful in future to sanitize the photo shoot area first. Wouldn't want the world to get the wrong idea about us Kentuckians.
