Australian WOOD Id Models

Recently purchased a set of Australian wooden and broken cellulose acetate models. When they arrived, there were several wood models with the same numbers you find on the cellulose acetate models. i.e. The Zeke cellulose DOD model has an "E9-2283" identifier under the wing. The wood Zeke model has the same "2283" number impressed into the side of the fuselage.

I was not aware of the existence of official (?) wood Australian models. They could be similar to the US's school boy program, but having the same number impressed into the fuselage as the other models makes me think these could be an early Australian DOD authorized model. Anyone ever seen any of these before?

I'm sorry I don't have any experience with these models. I think it's a really interesting genre of collecting, though. Best of luck solving the mystery!

I wrote back to the gentleman who sold them to me and he told me "they were given to my sister in law long ago by a retired RAAF gentleman who was part of the air force instructing corps here in Perth." Attached a few photos for those interested

Sadly, we can't add photos anymore... I imagine the problem could be solved, my hope to do so just hasn't had any traction.
