I owned it for a long time - a DC-4 / C-54 in a real bad shape (in 1:72 scale). But during this summer i get the energie to start the restore process. I recasted the missing stabilizer and get it back to shape. It wasn't anymore possible to get it polished again but it turnout nicely.
Don't know what was the origin of this old ID model - perhaps somebody could help. Now it is sitting on my desk and reminds me on the berlin airlift.

How did you replace the stabilizer tip?

I made a whole new stabilizer wing first in wood and a friend used this one as master for a recast in aluminum. The rest of the stab was sawed off and a complet new stab was mounted. The "bite" in the main wing was filled with epoxy... so just a little plastic inside.
See the picture that was done after the replacement

Great job on the restoration. I have a bronzart He111 with the wing tips missing that I need to do something with. Might make the wood replacement tip and see if I can find someone to make the metal replacement.

Regardless, the finished model looks great!

I have done wingtip repairs on bronzart models by casting right on the model using lead, over a music wire skeleton inserted into the stub. The top shot shows what was a "basketcase" Bronzart Stratocruiser and how it looked when finished. The bottom shots shows the new tip after being cast onto the stub and progressing through the sanding/shaping process. It's just tedious but not a hard job and almost therapeutic as the new part takes shape. I use JB to actually affix the new cast part to the stub and also use JB Weld for any incidental voids in the surface. Very Reliable way of making the fix. If you want more detail contact me.
