Inherited collection

Postby starbird » Thu Sep 09, 2010 6:16 pm

Hello,

My mother-in-law recently died and it was exciting to find a collection of 12 black Cruver ID model planes. 10 of them have original boxes. How can I please find out what these are worth?

German FOCKE WULF 200k, 18.25" wingspan, looks great, original box
German HEINKEL 115k pontoon plane, 12" wingspan, looks great, original box
Italian FIAT BR 20 T-98 AHB, 11.75" wingspan, slight deterioration in a couple of places, nothing broken, original box
German GOTHA 242, 13" wingspan, looks great, original box
Netherlands FOKKER T-8-W pontoon, 11.5" wingspan, some white speckling on underside, original box
German Dornier 217E, 10.5" wingspan, there are 2 of these, one in great shape, other has tail fins broken off, but there, and there is some writing on the wings
German ME 210, wingspan 9", great shape, original box
Italian FIAT CR 42 bi-plane, wingspan 5.25", one wheel broken off, but there.
German JUNKERS 87B, wingspan 7.5", great shape, original box
German HEINKEL 111, wingspan 12.5", great shape, no box
British YORK, wingspan 11.5", 2 cracks in body and tips of tail fins are gone, no box

Thanks,

Hi -
Sounds like you inherited some good stuff. I don't want to take up a lot of communal space in answering your questions, but if you will write to me directly at "bryanbrown@sbcglobal.net" I can tell you the relative rarity of everything you received. I can also tell you the world-record sales price for each item. "World record sales prices" are only a marginal proxy, since sometimes I have found people who are willing to pay 10X the usual market value for a model just because their father/uncle/dog flew on that particular aircraft.
Nevertheless, it's a place to start, so get back to me when it is convenient, and we can then compare notes. Thanks!
Best wishes! -- Bryan

Ooops... A bit late here, anyway...

If you want to sell the Italian BR20 and / or the CR42, here I am!

Cheers, Marco
