Luftwaffe very large scale models

In the auction lot that is described in another post there was this larger scale model of an Me-110
I wonder if it was a desk model or perhaps a 'teacher's scale classroom model? Steve R, any ideas?

These look like gunnery practise models, the models were placed onto a line via a cradle and sent off while the gunner shoots, somewhere I have a picture in a magazine of these in action.
The larger scale makes sense,a nice piece of wartime social history,a great find GR !

I have heard about that use of these german id models and think I saw the same article as you did a long time ago. I know of someone who used to have the stand for them. I just emailed him, so may be he will post some pics.
I note that Steve Remington did not mention this use though. He, along with Bryan Brown and Ron Crawford, can be called experts on IDs and may have some input.

GR,

I don't think these are ID models. Those wooden painted WW II models are pretty common to find here in Germany. In the 30's there were manufacturing plans sold for aircrafts and ships to be made of wood as well as some wooden kits. All were made intended to be toys and models for the popularity.
Of course it is possible, that the Luftwaffe used them as well, but I do not guess, they were made for them. The pictured ME-109 I got around 10 years ago on an auction and sold it later again. Currently there is a very nice Ju-52 in same style on German Ebay.
