That was quick.
Turns out the Caravelle cockpit was not just a copy of the Comet's it was built under license from de Havilland that way, same interior too.
I had often wondered about that, and just thought it was 'inspired' by the Comet.
It is quite nice on both aircraft. The Nimrod was a military version of the Comet 4 and just recently stopped flying.
I had the opportunity to fly in the cockpit of a Caravelle from Paris to Switzerland one night standing up just behind the pilots, from start up, taxi take off and landing. That was before Mr D.B. Cooper, of course.
One of the most memorable flights I have ever made. No clouds anywhere over europe that night, full moon too.
