‘Hun Hunter’ was immortalised in the movie 'Thunderbolt' made during the 57th Fighter Group’s operations from Corsica in the summer of 1944. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0erLVkqvPb0

It first appears with its pilot Lt Col Gil Wymond 13 1/2 minutes into the film.

Wymond stayed in the service after the war and took command of the 55th Fighter Squadron Shaw AFB, SC in April 1949. But was killed the following month in an F-84 crash.

His old mount lives on though. Owned and operated by Neal Melton and based at the Tennessee Museum of Aviation at Sevierville, TN
