Mike and Sue Richardson, authors of many toy books, have been key and passionate collectors. My Dinky Toy aircraft was dedicated to Sue.
I just received this thanks to Jose Heraud. It is from Mike's son.

'Many of you will know Mike Richardson suffered quite a serious stroke on the evening of the 9th.

He`s been admitted to the Neuro-Vasculaire dept of Poitiers hospital, whose staff and care inspire much confidence. Mike`s level of consciousness is minimal, but he`s not formally in a coma and I`ve been convinced by the neuro specialists he`s also not in pain.
The nature of recovery and treatment for this level of stroke is one of stabilising to prevent further damage, a course which possibly has days ahead to run before improvement may be seen. We are some way off thinking about rehabilitation.

Brenda and I are spending much time at his bedside and wish we had better news, but the stubborn old sod is taking his time....

We do of course give thanks and acknowledge all the well wishes for Mike, he`ll be chuffed and embarrassed in equal measure.

I`ll email updates as necessary.

Gary and Brenda Richardson'

Thank you so much for passing on this sad new. Mike and Sue were great proponents of our little collecting hobby. They left many great books as testament to their passion to Dinky Toys and other models.

Unfortunately, after Mike, this year we also lost Marcel Van Clemput author of the Great book of Corgi and more recently Bertrand Azema who was the expert in Solidos and who has written two major books on the subject.

These three gentlemen brought a great contribution to the knowledge of the 1/42 diecast world but there is still a lot to discover and write about. We are working on that. I know that at least three books should be issued in French and in English in 2014 about Dinky Toys. This will be the 80 th. anniversary of the marque.

Thank you for passing on this sad news, Jacques. All three documented a lot of great information on three different great diecast toy plane (and other) manufacturers.
