No. 67A Junkers Ju 89 bomber

Postby johnbeugels » Wed Jun 15, 2011 9:31 am

In my collection is a Junkers Ju 89 original black upper side with all insignia and pale blue underside. So far nothing rare. However the name is not Junkers Ju 89 at underside of the wing but the model is marked High Speed Monoplane like the Ju 90.
My explenation is that someone at Meccano factory forgot to change the insert in the die or there was a shortage of rough castings for the Ju 89 and instead of this, castings with High Speed Monoplane were used for the bomber.
It would be interesting to know if other collectors have Ju 89 models with the wrong name.

John, very interesting piece, are the crosses on the wing and the swastikas on the tail stamp printed or transfer/decals?

Hello Geoffrey,
I am lucky to have three original models of the Junkers Ju 89. All models have stamped markings, "Balkenkreuz" white on the wings and "Swastika'" black on white on tail fins. All original. The models have the disk type prop pins. For two models I have boxes, one box with blue paper, the other with green paper.
Date code on the boxes is 4-40, means april 1940.
John.

We are far.

I'm in Bar le Duc (Meuse) in the north-east of France.

If you travel by there, contact me, I will receive you without problem.
