That is an area I have experimented slightly with, but so far the results have been less than acceptable if you take my meaning. I have read quite a bit on casting but cannot seem to put it into practice at all. I cannot even sort out which material is the best for molds or casting material. I will continue trying as time permits, but I am not too hopeful I can get the results these models warrant.

I have now added a second Vulcan to my collection. I found it in Winnipeg, Manitoba while traveling through. The wing tips on this one are in much better shape and the landing gear is fully intact. I am very pleased with it.

The Vulcan replicas have appeared as do it yourself kits with decal sheet,bare metal casting,wheels with pins to fit and later as boxed completed examples,they are done by a company calling themselves 'Dinky Club' who sell them on EBay,by any standards they are excellent castings ideal as space fillers for those of us not willing to fork out the astronomical amounts asked by some vendors for originals.
Prior to the Dinky Club example there was another replica which had a slight and unfortunate shortfall which is easily recognised,the tip of the fin is seperate and can become detached,I heard a story about one example that was offered to the infamous company called Mint & Boxed in London,the seller took it in for valuation and possible sale thinking it was original and the fin portion broke off literally onto the counter ! the shop owner commented that it was a fake,these fakes were made in Canada as the friend of mine was an airline pilot who purchased two of them so beware of impersonators of the Vulcan variety.
I was interested in the weld repairs at the factory,this must have been no easy task as anyone who has attempted to weld any alloy will know it literally goes into blobs very easily when heat is applied,the welder who used to make up our long distance ferry fuel tanks on de Havilland Heron's once showed me how easy it was to make a mess of things.
The Vulcan has become diecast aircraft folklore and still has that air of mystery about it.
