Postby 24C » Wed Apr 29, 2015 2:12 pm

Got this one in a Bonhams lot sale:

All tin, windup, really pretty insect, here is its size compared to the Tootsietoy Pitcairn and the A.R. "autogire" :

Any ideas about manufacturer?

This is what it looks like underneath, with its complex windup mechanism, that powers rotor and wheels:

If you look carefully on the bottom of the rotor blades, it is marked "Made in Occupied Japan."

The original box is plain cardboard and similarly marked "Made in Occupied Japan."

I have a toy catalog from 1948 that features this toy. But, there's no manufacturer name listed on the ad.

There is a second, slightly smaller "snub-nosed" version of the toy as well.

Here's a link to a different MAC post featuring this version:

Like you, I would love to hear who made these toys!
