Custom made Boeing SSTs Qantas and Air France

Postby uk 75 » Thu Jul 26, 2012 1:32 pm

Myfriends at Builderscience have just completed my latest two desk model Boeing SSTs in about 1-300 scale.

The first model is the Boeing 733 wearing Qantas colours.
Qantas Boeing 733

The second is the Boeing 2707 wearing Air France colours.
Air France Boeing 2707

Although there was no real Boeing SST built, Boeing presented the optionholding airlines with models made by Pacific Miniatures in the colours of the airline at the time in the 60s. My replicas are in the spirit of the models given to airline execs in the 60s and so are not especially detailed but capture the "Mad Men" era well.

Nice.

I found a 60" United Airlines Display Prototype/Display Model at a garage sale. Very Cool . . .

These 60" models are even rarer than the Pacific Miniatures 15" Revell style pair from the 60s. I have seen Eastern and Delta versions posted as well. The British Airways Museum has the Pacmin models given to BOAC in the 60s but not a 60" version. It may be that only US airlines received them.

I may add a United 2707 to my list of to dos from Builderscience. :D
